I don't know if you remember, but I've had the same glasses for, oh, 14 years. They're not TERRIBLE, I guess, but I finally got tired of Dave's reaction each time I'd put them on: Either he'd make fun of my relentlessly or he'd look at me with an unbearable amount of pity.
So, here's the before and after:
Before: Tortoise wire frames from the little kid's section because of my freakishly narrow face.
After: Trendier chocolate brown frames with pink on the inside
It'll be hilarious when the fashion trends circle back around and I reflect on this post going, "What the HELL was I thinking with those thick frames?" For now? I look good. I mean real good.

Hi. Been offline for a few days. Just checking back in and finally catching up on a few posts.
I'm digging the new glasses. It's amazing how trendy things can be. My philosophy is to buy something, keep it forever and hope it will come back into fashion at some point so I don't have to buy another one! LOL.
Great post.
Love them! They look great!
I'm so overdue for some new frames. That's first on my list after Vegas!
LOVE the new glasses. Very Tina Fey sexy.
Love them! Also, absolutely love your hair. :)
I love the glasses, but I was (like Marie) totally crushing on your hair. I couldn't even hope for any style that requires straight hair.
LeSigh.
But (back to the glasses), they totally work on you- I only wear glasses for reading/long-term computer usage, but I've been wearing the same ones for 8 years. I like to think of them as "classic" rather than "sad".
There cute!
Big change! I love them :)
You're not alone. I had my frames for probably 10 years and finally traded in for ones like yours. I'm still getting used to seeing pictures of myself with these big plastic things on my face! But they're cute!! And so are yours :-)
Hawtness!
You look like Harry Potter in your before pic.
Complainer: Hey, that's a philosophy that pays off!
Jamie: Thanks! Why do we wait so long to get stuff like this?
Bayjb: Best. Compliment. Ever.
Marie: Haha, thanks so much. I straighten it daily because it's a big, ol' frizzy mess if I don't. WORTH IT.
WhiskeyMarie: Yes, classic! If you wait long enough, I bet you could start calling them "vintage" too. ;-)
Life in the Cube: Thanks!
Jenn: Oh yeah, very big change. Much, much needed.
Super Girl: Glad I'm not the only one who procrastinates, oh, a decade. Congrats on your new pair too.
DShan: Thank you!!
Lovesfool: Oh god, you made me laugh. And it's creepy how right you are...
Que cute! Very on-trend but not over-the-top-wanna-be-hipster. I was afraid of getting thicker frames after a decade of wire-rims, and I'm so glad I did. They look great on you!
whoa...if your new glasses are from juicy (which I think they are from looking at the side) I totally have the same ones. Absolutely love them. They look cute!
I don't know why there is a self-indulgent category on here since every post seems to be PRETTY DAMN SELF-INDULGENT.
Yuck. And look at the company you keep. These comments are about as vapid as a 11-year-old at a Cheetah Girls concert.
Cheetah Girls? Seriously?
Forget Anonymous, self indulgence is in. :D
I LOVE your new glasses! They look fabulous on your face.
