First trip of 2010

Dave and I are headed to San Francisco on Friday!

I've never been there before. Actually, I've never really been to the West Coast. I was technically in LA for two days on my honeymoon on our way to Australia, but I was such a sick little mess that I barely ventured out of the hotel room. (And not in a good way. I wanted to die.) So, really, it doesn't count.

This time, we're going to SF to visit Dave's best man. I have no idea what the weekend will entail besides heavy drinking and decent weather -- which is all I require on a good trip. But if you've been before and you know of a restaurant, bar or boutique that I cannot, should not miss, let me know!

Tartine, a darling little bakery in the mission.

This was a fun bar:

And I went to an amazing amazing amazing Tapas/Italian wine bar when I was there this past fall but I can't think of the name of it. I am going to try to track it down.

You're totally going to want to move there- just a warning.

We loved Restorante Ideale in North Beach on our last trip- best food I've had anywhere in ages.

Maris: A French place -- you KNOW Dave will love that. And you know I can't say no to an Italian wine bar.

Whiskeymarie: Holy shit, that menu looks incredible!

Definitely hang out in Union Square and go to Chinatown. Two AMAZING restaurants you have to try:

Le Colonial

I went to San Francisco for Labor Day weekend last year and absolutely loved it. It's an amazing city and is beautiful no matter what direction you are looking. You won't want to leave. Ever.

Lacey Bean: Looks like there's lots of vegetarian stuff at Zare -- perfect!

Fromatopink: Okay, I will, but only because you told me three times. ;-)

Instatick: I'm counting on it. Especially since Chicago's weather right now can't even compare.

I lived in the Bay Area for 13 years and just moved to TN this past year! =)

Lots of great stuff to do and too many restaurants to ever visit, but here are a few of my favorites:

Farallon (if you like seafood ~ it has a cool atmosphere).
www.farallonrestaurant.com

Town Hall (eclectic menu and nice crowd). www.townhallsf.com

Boulevard Restaurant (just good food - we ate in the private wine room, which was amazing!)
boulevardrestaurant.com‎

Ferry Building(cool place to stroll through and EAT too). There is also a farmer's market on Saturdays, I believe.... www.ferrybuildingmarketplace.com

If you have time for a short hike - Muir Woods is cool (The Redwoods). Just north of SF over the Golden Gate Bridge. www.nps.gov

Would love to hear where you guys end up going during your trip - Please post about it! =)

Have a GREAT time - You will love it! Have FUN!

TraciJ: Thanks for the awesome suggestions! No better person to ask than someone who lived there for so long. :-) I will definitely post about it, complete with sweet pictures from Dave's camera.
